UPSC  stands for Union Public Service Commission. It's a constitutional body in India that conducts exams for top government jobs.

The UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) is the most prestigious and competitive exam conducted by UPSC. It recruits officers for top administrative positions like:

IAS – Indian Administrative Service  
IPS – Indian Police Service  
IFS – Indian Foreign Service  
IRS – Indian Revenue Service  
... and many more Central Civil Services.
📚 Structure of the UPSC CSE Exam:

There are 3 stages:

1. Preliminary Exam (Prelims)Screening Test
- Objective-type questions (MCQs)
- Two Papers:
 -General Studies Paper I
 - CSAT (General Studies Paper II) – just qualifying
- Total Marks: 400
- Purpose: To shortlist candidates for the next stage
2. Main Examination (Mains)– Written, Descriptive
- 9 papers (essay-style answers)
 - 4 General Studies papers
 - 1 Essay
 - 2 Optional Subject papers
 - 2 Language papers (1 Indian language + 1 English – qualifying only)
- Total Marks (counted for merit): 1750
3. Interview (Personality Test)
- Face-to-face interview with UPSC Board
- Tests personality, leadership, decision-making, and awareness
- Marks: 275
